Young Bulls - the best great to sell
Steers - harder to sell but quality sold well
Heifers - smart heifers saw a great day trading
Prime Lambs - lambs saw more money than expected
Prime Hoggets - strong hoggs were a great trade
well above the national average
Cast Sheep - saw more money, fat not in demand, leaner ewes dear

On Monday, 7th May Darlington Farmers Auction Mart held their Special Bank Holiday Show and Sale of 520 Ewes, Shearlings and Hoggs with lambs at foot, along with the weekly store sale and cast cows.
Overall a marvelous trade was achieved with a real buzz around the ringside from start to finish, many more are still required as many prospective purchasers leaving empty handed.

Darlington Farmers Auction Mart Company Ltd established since 1887 are one of the North of Englands leading livestock auctioneering firms. Over the last 6 years the company has gone from strength to strength under the management of Stephen Aitken and a team of Auctioneers and Fieldofficers lead by Andrew Armstrong and assisted by Tracey Gilhespy and Emma Coupland. With the recent success and dramatic increase of livestock numbers at the centre the firm are in the process of planning applications to move the existing market to a new site on the outskirts of Darlington to allow for further expansion in a new purpose built agricultural centre designed to cater for the future ahead.
The company now rated in the top four UK primestock centres and firmly established as the North of England’s premier livestock Auction with weekly Monday sales of store stock and Thursday sale of primestock. A successful prime sheep collection centre operates at Redmires Farm, Firtree, Crook to assist with the sourcing of prime lambs to many outlets the company has in its portfolio. The immediate success of this centre in collecting prime lambs and cast ewes for thirty two different abattoirs and wholesalers has enabled the company to consider expansion at the Redmires Collection Centre
